Brother and Sister, Valerie and Nick Flynt celebrate St. Patrick's Day last year at Killarney's Restaurant and Irish Pub

On Wednesday we celebrate the luck of the Irish by acknowledging Saint Patrick, on his own special day. How do you plan on participating in the traditional festivities on March 17?

Are you going to throw on some green so that annoying coworker in human resources won’t pinch you, maybe you just plan on driving thru McDonald’s for a Shamrock Shake, or possibly you will want to pop into one of the following eight great pubs in the area to celebrate just as the Irish would!  Several pints of Guinness washed down with corn beef and cabbage. Read up and crack on to one of the pubs below and let the sham-rocking begin!

  1. Killarneys Restaurant and Irish Pub- Your Irish eyes will be smiling when you join the party that takes place here every St. Patty’s Day. Right off of Highway 79 in Temecula we have our own Irish pub that offers an amazing celebration on account of the Saint known as Patrick. A party so big it stretches itself into their parking lot. They offer a beer garden, live music all day, and even traditional pipers. Sounds to me like the decision to head to this venue for this holiday should be in the bag!
  2. Barley and Hops- If you can’t make it here on the 17th don’t shed a tear, you will “barley” miss out on the fun. These guys know how to throw a party, stretching St. Patrick’s celebrations all month long! Until March 31 indulge in traditional food items like Rueben sandwiches, bangers and mash, and fish and chips. Quality Irish beers will also be part of the merriment! So hop on into this Old World Tavern off Temecula Parkway (79 South) in Temecula anytime during the month of March where you can still partake in the Irish fare.
  3. The Edge- If you like a more of an edgier, and higher end establishment then venture towards The Edge down in Old Town Temecula this St. Patrick’s Day. A whole Irish spread will commence with a lavish menu that includes, Irish soda bread, Guinness beef stew, corn beef and cabbage, fish and chips, Irish whiskey and apple bread pudding. The authentic Irish food will be complimented with Celtic music and specialty drinks and shots. If you don’t drink there is no need to be green with envy, instead, make a toast with one of their original Irish milkshakes, hold the Guinness.
  4. Lucky’s Tavern- They are always after my lucky charms…er…tavern! Take a trip to Lake Elsinore and see if luck finds you at this local hangout. This Saint Patrick’s Day the tavern will be having an all out bash all day long. The events will ensue with giveaways, free pool, live music, and green beer. There will also be several drink specials that are, of course, magically delicious!
  5. Pechanga Resort and Casino- No need to follow a leprechaun to the end of the rainbow to get your pot of gold. There may be some waiting for you at this casino. If you are feeling lucky on March 17 roll the dice and come to Pechanga’s Resort and Casino in Temecula off of Pechanga Parkway. Join into the “Lucky Leprechaun” celebration where you could win your share of $17,000! Stop by one of Pechanga’s bars, either Cabaret or the Round bar to get your drink on, or stay and enjoy the sounds of and Irish rock band, The Fenians, in their theater showroom. With so much to do you might be partying into the wee hours of the night, don’t be surprised if you hear a, “Top of the morning to you!”
  6. The Yard House- Regardless if you are wearing green or not, you may just have to pinch yourself, you are not dreaming, they really offer that many beers here. The Yard House makes for an amazing pub to stumble into because they possess the title of having the World’s largest selection of draft beers. Situated in the Promenade Mall in Temecula, you will discover this bar and restaurant. An extensive menu of delicious entrees compliments any beverage you choose. Making this your celebration destination you are guaranteed a good time, food, drinks, and fun, the whole nine yards!
  7. BJs Restaurant and Brewery- Roll into this well known restaurant off Overland and Ynez in Temecula and you will discover that they brew their own specialty beers here! No blarney about it! Not sure what your beer of choice is, sip on the taster set of their seven original brews. Follow each taste with any of their yummy appetizers or their famously delicious deep dish pizza. If you prefer an entrée or a stuffed baked potato either will satisfy, just be sure you save room for their renowned Pizookie. A pub with appetizing food? No need to find a four leaf clover, you just got lucky.
  8. The Tilted Kilt Pub and Eatery- Coming soon to a theater near us…the Tilted Kilt is replacing what once was Iron Wok, right near the Edwards Theater in Temecula. What is the Tilted Kilt you ask? It’s quite possibly the sports pub where you will want to be recognizing dear St. Patrick next year. Standard greasy pub eats and tasty cold brews are what will be filling this new restaurant, as well as scantily clad beautiful women. As these gals serve you, you might just be wishing that you wore your, “Kiss me, I’m Irish” T shirt. This location should be open soon, let’s hope the luck of the Irish is upon us.

May the road rise up to meet you, may the sun be always at your back, and until we meet again, may you find yourself an Irish blessing this Saint Patrick’s Day.
