Munich 2018 hits jackpot with new sponsor - Insidethegames.biz

September 21 - Munich 2018 has added to its extensive group of influential backers from the German business community as Lotto Bayern was officially unveiled as a national sponsor of the Bid Committee for the Olympics and Paralympics.

It should ensure that Munich's bid should now reach the whole of Bavaria and beyond, with Lotto Bayern creating awareness among customers at Olympic information points through its close-knit distribution network of 3,800 service points and nine Bavarian casinos.

Bernhard Schwank, the chief executive of Munich 2018, was delighted to welcome the company to a portfolio of sponsors that already includes Adidas, BMW and Lufthansa.

He said: "We hope that Lotto Bayern’s four-leaf clover logo will bring us a little luck, and that with this additional backing from German businesses we can achieve our joint goal of hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in 2018.

"With the help of the state lottery fund and its 3,800 service points in Bavaria, we hope that Lotto can help to boost the entire state’s excitement for the Winter Games to ensure everyone backs the bid with real enthusiasm."

Lotto Bayern has played an important role as a partner of sport, especially Paralympic sports, for more than 50 years.

It was heavily involved in the Summer Olympics  in 1972, including providing the financing for the infrastructure of the 1972 Games in Munich.

Every year, €500 million (£427 million/$669 million) of the funds generated by Lotto throughout Germany goes directly to supporting sport.

altThe deal was announced at a special ceremony attended by, among others, double Olympic gold medallist Katarina Witt, the chairman of Munich 2018 and Erwin Horak, the President of Lotto Bayern.

Horak said: "Lotto Bayern is dedicated to supporting the bid to bring a major sporting event of such global significance to the Bavarian capital and the surrounding region.

"Should Munich be selected to host the Games in 2018, it would provide a long-term stimulus for continual positive growth in many different areas - not just financially, but in sporting and social terms too.

"As a local business, Lotto Bayern would like to wish the Munich 2018 bid the best of luck."

Schwank emphasised the importance of the partners’ shared vision for the Paralympic Movement.

He said: "The Munich 2018 Bid Committee’s partnership with Lotto Bayern is founded in part on our common goal of staging the most inclusive Winter Games in Paralympic history.

"Lotto Bayern has been a passionate supporter of barrier free sports for many years, and we are very pleased to be able to draw on their expertise and strong ties to the people of Bavaria."

Radio 1 DJ and television personality Fearne Cotton has been photographed in Balagan’s lucky four leaf clover necklace, from their Blowing in the Wind collection, in this month’s Look Magazine.

It’s not the first time the delicate piece has found itself in the hands of a celebrity after Sarah Jessica Parker wore it whilst playing the Sex and the City lead role of Carrie Bradshaw.

As previously reported, the collection uses real, hand-picked clovers for each piece with every clover being checked for imperfections and, if it passes inspection, then fitted with an electrical contact point and hand painted with a copper solution.

After drying, the clovers are then placed in an electrolytic solution which has microscopic particles of 24ct gold. The electrical contact attracts the particles of gold and the metal builds up on the clover to form a coating, which preserves even the most intricate and minute surface details.

The clovers are then checked a final time to ensure the process has not magnified any previously unnoticed imperfections, before being approved. The lucky clovers are available in silver or vintage gold finish and can be worn on a 16” or 24” chain.

  • four-leaf clovers in yard - Mexico Ledger

The four-leaf clover is an uncommon variation of the common, three-leafed clover. According to tradition, such leaves bring good luck to their finders, especially if found accidentally. For one Mexico woman, who recently found a patch growing in her yard, this could mean a fortune of good luck.
Sher-rE Cox lives in a house on Cleveland Street that she shares with her four children, ranging in age from 4-11 years old (there's the first symbolic four). Standing outside in her yard recently, talking to her mother on the telephone, Cox glanced at the ground, and spotted the first four-leaf clover. As the conversation continued, she found another. Then another, and another, until she had to put away the phone, and bend down for a closer look. At last count Monday, Cox had collected nearly 50 of the leaflets – and within the patch, she would later find that even more were hidden within the blades of grass.
"Mom told me to put them up, because they meant good luck," Cox recalled. Being of Irish descent, Cox was raised to believe the legend about Shamrocks, four-leaf clovers, and the infamous pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. But never in her life did she expect to find so many clovers.
According to legend, each leaf represents something: the first is for hope, the second is for faith, the third is for love, and the fourth is for luck.
In Irish tradition, the Shamrock or three-leaf clover represents the Holy Trinity: one leaf for the Father, one for the Son and one for the Holy Spirit. When a Shamrock is found with the fourth leaf, it represents God's Grace – which is what Cox is hoping for.
"As a kid, I always found them," she said. But now, she's hoping for a little grace.
Cox has a child suffering with issues that forces him to seek care outside the home. Sometimes, extended stays. Cox is hoping that her luck from the clovers is more aimed at her son coming home sooner than expected, and in better condition than he was when he left.
She also extended good faith for her family and home.
Since finding the patch, Cox has become fascinated with the history of the clover. It has been estimated there are approximately 10,000 three-leaf clovers for every four-leaf clover.
Clovers can have more than four leaves: the most ever recorded is 21, a record set in June 2008 by the same man who held the prior record and the current Guinness World Record of 18. Unofficial claims of discovery have ranged as high as 27. Some people believe that a five-leaf clover is even luckier than a four-leaf one. Five-leaf clovers are less commonly found naturally than four-leaf clovers, however they, too, have been successfully cultivated.
Other plants may be mistaken for, or misleadingly sold as, "four-leaf clovers." For example, Oxalis tetraphylla is a species of wood sorrel with leaves resembling a four-leaf clover.
When Cox contacted The Ledger about her find, more research was needed to determine if her patch was authentic. According to State Agronomist Jim Jarman, what Cox has in her yard is called white clover – which produces little white blooms, and is considered to produce the lucky clover
"It's one of the Dutch white clover that you find in lawns," Jarman said as he viewed an email photograph The Ledger had forwarded for identification. "There are four-leaf varieties that tend to produce a higher percentage of four-leaf clovers than others."
Asked why Cox had so many in one patch in her yard, Jarman said, "Weather may have stimulated the four-leafiness. Rain and cool weather are contributing factors."
Jarman further noted that it's rather common to find four-leaf clovers in lawns, especially those that are well maintained. If the lawns are fertilized, he said, they  tend to stimulate the grass growth, rather than clover, because of their nitrogen levels. And, rain tends to carry them away through soil. So, this can make grass less vigorous, and allow the clover to dominate a little more. It could have also been carried by animals that eat the blooms.

Very superstitious: Half of adults avoid cracks in the pavement as we try to ... - Daily Mail

Magpies, broken mirrors, cracks in the pavement: The very superstitious beliefs of  modern-day Britain

    By Daily Mail Reporter

Last updated at 4:28 PM on 15th September 2010

Seven years: Almost half of people polled in a survey on luck expect to receive bad luck if they break a mirror

Seven years: Almost half of people polled in a survey on luck expect to receive bad luck if they break a mirror

Whether it's chucking salt over our left shoulder, avoiding cracks in the pavement or not going under a ladder, superstitious beliefs continue to keep a strong hold over us.

More than 14million adults regularly carry out everyday tasks they believe will bring them luck - or ward off bad luck, research has found.

Four out of ten people avoid cracks in the pavement or dodge ladders while a third of wary adults said they believe putting up an umbrella in the house is unlucky.

The study also found four out of ten regularly touch wood and a similar number would never walk under a ladder.

One in three people regularly cross their fingers for luck, and almost half expect to receive seven years bad luck if they break a mirror. One in 20 adults won't walk on cracks in the pavement.

Interestingly, six in ten said they knew superstitions were unlikely to come to anything, but carried them out anyway 'just in case'.

And superstition isn't limited just to everyday life: One in six polled said they rely on lucky rituals when betting on a horse, with one in twenty having bagged more than 1,000 after backing a winner.

A quarter will watch from a lucky chair, three in ten will only bet on a certain race and 28 per cent will choose a name of a horse which is funny.

The poll of 3,000 people was carried out by horse racing body Racing for Change, to mark the launch of its www.lovetheraces.com website.

    TOP TEN SUPERSTITIONS:

     1. Won't walk under a ladder

     2. Salute a lone magpie

     3. Throw spilt salt over your left shoulder

     4. Put money in a purse or wallet

     5. Don't step on cracks in the pavement

     6. Avoid crossing people on the stairs

     7. Won't put an umbrella up in the house

     8. Won't walk across three drains

     9. Won't put shoes on the table

    10. Say 'pinch punch first day of the month' on the first day of the month

Yesterday a spokesman said: 'Most people have some superstitious tendencies and are plagued by a fear of what may happen if they don't carry out their ritual.

'Crossing fingers and making wishes when blowing out candles seem like every day habits now rather than superstitions but avoiding black cats and magpies seem quite old fashioned now.

'We also found many people still fear crossing paths on the stairs, spilling salt or opening umbrellas in the house, 'It may not make any difference at all but we can't help 'touching wood' to avoid tempting fate, chucking salt over our left shoulder or saying 'white rabbit' on the first of the month.

'It at least gives us the peace of mind, but superstitions determine the actions of millions of Brits on a daily basis.'

Other superstitious actions include wearing lucky socks or pants, avoiding walking across three drains and saying 'pinch punch, first day of the month'.

Cameron Diaz wears a 'lucky' necklace given to her by a friend because she thinks it will ward off the effects of aging

Cameron Diaz wears a 'lucky' necklace given to her by a friend because she thinks it will ward off the effects of aging

The poll also revealed 32 per cent of Brits think it is lucky to find a four-leaf clover while 28 per cent think it is lucky to pick up a penny.

Other 'lucky superstitions' include wishing on a shooting star (16%) and saluting a lone magpie (21%).

One in six reckon they're in luck if they meet a black cat.

Walking under a ladder and breaking a mirror emerged as the most believable superstitions along with a lone magpie threatening future happiness.

The spokesman for Racing for Change added: 'Regular race goers have some very unique lucky rituals, like always betting on a horse whose name begins with a certain letter or only betting on a jockey whose star sign is Libra for example.

'Race-goers are a particularly superstitious bunch who tend to carry good luck charms, queue at particular Tote windows or back horses or jockeys with certain names, numbers or colours.

'But surprisingly, Friday the 13th seems to be no barrier to having a flutter. In fact, betting turnover tends to be higher on these days.'

Always say "white rabbits", on 1st of the month. When I was working, I would always remind my colleagues to do the same. My grannie used to say it was bad luck to cross on stairs, so I never do.

I NEVER walk under a ladder.........if sombody is on it

As for the rest of these superstitions they are for the feeble minded who want or need something to blame when things go wrong......its the same for a "religion"...which is just another name for a more organised form of superstition.

I think the salt superstition came about because salt was once a very valuable thing and to spill it was a horrible loss. The only thing that I believe though isn't listed, but for your own well-being, here it is........" No matter how bad things seem, never, ever say.....What else can go wrong?" If you ask ,you will find out. I try not to even think those words. : )

Superstition? What utter rot! A load of guff for the uneducated and naive. Thank heavens I'm a complete sceptic when it comes to this sort of thing.
Touch wood, we Aquarians aren't taken in by this sort of thing.

We all know superstition is a myth. However if your day isn't going so well, why would you risk walking under a ladder? I know some times it is impossible not to especially with scaffolding and ladders on floors above (at these times I cross my fingers and that cancels it) but when we do have a choice, many of us choose not to walk under it because we are irrationally afraid that we will bring bad luck to our side.

So come on, I dare anyone having a bad day to go ahead and walk under a ladder - go on, just walk. Believe me, you might also not believe in supersitition, but there is no way to say whether it does bring bad luck or not and this is the problem you see - it's the not knowing. And I think anyone will choose good luck over bad in their lives.

How do you charm someone with a simple invocation?  Do charm spells really work?

There are two fundamental ways in which the charm spells do their magic:

    • You cast a magic spell, which is trying to influence the other person’s thinking into all of a sudden liking your personality type and appearance.
    • You try to mask your real personality and character, to appear to be different, more pleasant to the target.

Which one is better suited to your need? It all depends on who you are, and how you are perceived by the other people. Also on whom are you trying to charm, and for what purpose.

Some people are naturally charming and well regarded. Some, because they are genuinely good, pleasant, fun and . . . , others, who only appear to be so.

Politicians and used car salesmen are very good customers for magic Charm spells. So are teenagers, trying to get noticed by the person they have a crush on.

Charm spells for teenagers are definitely in the White magic category, while those woven by politicians and salesmen tend to drift a bit into deception and therefore the darker side of things.

Charm spells are easy to perform, and you can buy a variety of them online. Some are even genuine spells, conceived and performed by practicing witches or wizards. Some are not so good, and designed to charm you into thinking that the person out there on the other side of the internet web is actually going to cast the spell for you, as soon as you click the “pay here” button.

Personally, I would rather buy a “Do-it –yourself” type of charm spell, with all the instructions included, and I would cast it myself, and in the direction of the person I want to charm.

It is much safer, much more effective, and definitely much more fun, than wondering if the wizard promising to cast it for you is genuine. Once he / she has your money, will they actually cast the spell?  Will they bother?

I hope they would. But there are many “used spell salespeople” out there. So beware what you are buying, and from whom!

Does a Love Spell Really Work?

Does a Love Spell Really Work?

Love spells are cast with the intention of providing a paranormal solution to all your love difficulties and evils. There are loads of different love spells for different purposes. There can be simple spells for attracting your lover or intricate ones that involve a lot of convoluted ceremonies, charms and magic spells. People have been using these love spells since ancient times even it is to get back a lost partner or to get the partner of your dreams. These spells increase the magnetism of love and are also effective in rejuvenating your love life. Such love spells differ according to different cultures and their traditions. For an instance, Wicca spells are entirely different than the voodoo spells.

However, the authenticity of these spells is being questioned in the contemporary age and a majority of people are extra cautious in using magic to resolve their love issues. Some consider it unethical since it tries to control the free will of a person through paranormal procedures. It should be realized that when a love spell is used negatively, it might backfire and affect the person casting the spell. There is a whole bunch of love psychics that will help you unite the magic charm so that the energy produced in the process could be used for a specific purpose. It requires a great deal of an effort to control the person through magic for a long time. A point normally comes where the accumulated negative energy hits the caster and results in to something as bad as a divorce or an accident in severe cases.

Let?s understand the working of these spells. These magical love spells are nothing but energy spells that are directed by the means of a love prop or a symbol to bring about the desired change or the desired end result. The basic principle used by these love psychics is that everything in this world is made up of dynamic energy and they can generate more energy by the means of various psychological tools. Such an increase in energy can help you alter the natural course of any particular event. Symbols such as magical notes, planetary signs or natural signs help in invoking certain thoughts and symbolize certain ideas. Therefore, to conclude with, the love spell casting involves mental tools of concentration, detailed visualization and desired projection which could be achieved only through practice.

    Description

This really easy to make 4-leaf clover is PERFECT for St. Patrick's day! Make it colourful, or make it green!
Note: You will have to make one thing 4 times, just to warn you, but it is easy and you can quickly make it after you've done it your first time!

    1. Step 1

      Step 1

((This is for if you don't have square paper or don't know how to create square paper.))
First, take your paper. You can use ANYTHING: Newspaper, books even! Just make sure it's all the same size. If you don't have square paper, take the piece of paper you have and take the top left hand corner and fold it down to down the right side of the paper, making sure the tip is even. Then you can cut off the rectangle at the bottom of the page, unfold, and voila! You have a sqaure! =P

    2. Step 2

      Step 2

With the coloured side facing downwards, fold in half, so that the fold line goes horizontally, accurately and neatly as possible.

    3. Step 3

      Step 3

      Unfold.

  • Step 4

    Step 4

Fold in half, so that the fold line is vertical, accurately and neatly as possible.

  • Step 5

    Step 5

Take the top of your piece of paper and fold it down so that it meets the line that goes left to right. Fold the line. Of course, mine isn't hold down, so it looks like it's not meeting on the line, but it twings back....
Just make sure it meets the line!

  • Step 6

    Step 6

    Flip your paper over!

  • Step 7

    Step 7

Take the top right corner of the paper and bring it down, so the top of you paper meets the middle line of your paper. Do that with the other side too.

  • Step 8

    Step 8

    Flip over your paper!

  • Step 9

    Step 9

Bring the tip of your paper down, making sure the tip's in line with the fold down the middle. However, make sure it doesn't go fully down to the bottom line.

  • Step 10

    Step 10

    Flip your paper over!

  • Step 11

    Step 11

Open the left rectangle, like in the picture.

  • Step 12

    Step 12

Like in the picture, fold it down!!

  • Step 13

    Step 13

    Do the other side too!

  • Step 14

    Step 14

Fold the sides in, so the sides meet with the middle fold.

  • Step 15

    Step 15

Fold the top left in to make a triangle. Then do the other side.

  • Step 16

    Step 16

Fold the top of the triangles to make the top line flat.

  • Step 17

    Step 17

Flip it over and you have a heart!

Now, make three more of these, making sure all of your pieces of paper are the same size.

  • Step 18

    Step 18

    Orange leaf...

  • Step 19

    Step 19

    Yellow leaf...

  • Step 20

    Step 20

    Pink leaf! And its completed!

Make them the same colour, or any colour! This is really easy and fun to make!
    Hope you enjoyed it! =]
