You’re in luck: Still time to sign up for the Shamrock 10-miler, 5K and L’il Leprechaun Run
by Ken BohannonFeeling lucky?Runners line up for the start of the Shamrock 10-miler.
South Florida runners really are in luck this time of year because there are so many races to participate in. There were three great charitable events this past weekend and another really good one coming up Sunday.
The 35th annual Shamrock 10-miler, 5K and L’il Leprechaun Run is scheduled for Sunday, March 13 at John Prince Park in Lake Worth.
This is one of the well-attended running events in the county, probably for its long history, its appeal to runners of longer and shorter distances and, of course, its Irish foundation and connection to St. Patrick’s Day.
The weather looks like it’s going to be pretty nice for a run on Sunday, so don some green running apparel or gather up some green gear and run around Lake Osborne and through the park. I’ve seen everything from a cute little four-leaf clover on the cheek to full on green body paint with props at St. Patrick’s Day runs. One of the side benefits of joining this race is the colorful shirt you get for participating. A long sleeve technical T-shirt awaits the first 1,000 entrants for this year. The event ends with a festive after-party which is always nice and provides a great excuse for hanging around John Prince, one of my favorite parks in the county.
The 10-miler begins at 7:30 a.m. and the 5K begins 15 minutes later. You can watch the L’il Leprechauns do their 100 yard dash at 9:30.
You can find more information on the Palm Beach Road Runners website.
See you out there!
